Ms. Bartz places Yahoo’s position in a rather different light. ‘We have never been a search company,’ she said. ‘It is: ‘I am on Yahoo. I am going to do a search.’

Um, excuse me?! OK, maybe I’m showing my age, but I remember when Yahoo was still being run out of Stanford. That’s all they were. It wasn’t very easy to sift through what was returned. But, they were the only one, and it was all they did. It wasn’t until years later that they became an “entertainment site”. Luckily it was around that time that Google came along, as it was evident that Yahoo! had already lost its focus. What’s amazing is that they’ve made it this far with that same lack of focus.
